Widely recognized for quality and superior outcomes, our short-term rehabilitation and subacute care program is exceptional. Simply put, it’s a great way to get better.
In our dedicated unit, highly qualified rehabilitation therapists provide comprehensive physical, occupational, speech and specialized therapies 7 days a week.
Each resident’s care is guided by a customized care plan, designed and implemented by an interdisciplinary team of rehab specialists including therapists, physicians, nurses, RN case managers, and supplemented by a physiatrist and physician assistants. Importantly, the residents themselves and their family members are also key members of the team, providing vital insights and information that greatly enhance our ability to help each person maximize his or her potential for recovery and a speedy return home.
The environment, facilities and equipment here at Garden Care Center are some of our other advantages. The spacious rehab area has a full working kitchen, modified bedroom and even a training bathroom designed to better prepare residents to return home. The full array of rehab equipment includes a treadmill, electric parallel bars, “arm bike” for upper extremity exercises, stationary and recumbent bikes, as well as a training staircase. There’s also a state-of-the-art Cybex full circuit weight system and Neurocom Balance Master, a fully computerized balance system to aide in diagnosing and treating balance and vestibular disorders. Numerous treatment modalities are also available to effectively deal with pain, inflammation and improve blood flow and flexibility.
Regardless of the rehab challenge, Garden Care Center is ready to help get you back on your feet and back to your highest level of function and independence. Here are a few examples of the ways we do just that.
In physical therapy, walking, balance and muscle strengthening are emphasized to renew compromised abilities and reduce falls. Our orthopedic rehab program follows the specific recommendations of your orthopedist, or in the case of joint replacement, your surgeon. Likewise, our specialized cardiac rehab program follows established protocols in conjunction with the Center’s cardiologist. Amputee and prosthetic management training is done by skilled, caring professionals, highly qualified to deal with these unique challenges.
Occupational therapy improves independence by simulating activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and ability to position oneself in bed. Enhancing range of motion for upper extremities, muscle strength and tone, and when needed, the use of adaptive equipment are also major parts of this program.
Speech and language therapy is available to restore and facilitate communication, so important to maintaining quality of life. For residents affected by speech-related problems and disorders, we’ll administer a complete speech, language and dysphagia evaluation upon admission and develop a personalized treatment plan to help each one rebuild bridges to optimum communication.
